What is MTL (mouth-to-lung) vaping?
MTL vaping mimics the way you'd draw on a cigarette vapour collects in your mouth first, then you inhale it into your lungs as a second step. It's a smaller, more restricted draw than DTL, which is exactly why it tends to feel familiar to anyone switching from smoking.
MTL devices are almost always simple pod kits with tighter airflow, paired with higher-resistance coils (typically 1.0ohm or above) run at lower wattages. This combination is what makes nic salts work so well for MTL the smoother throat hit at higher nicotine strengths (10mg–20mg) suits the lower-power, tighter-draw setup perfectly.
What is DTL (direct-to-lung) vaping?
DTL vaping means inhaling vapour straight into your lungs in one motion a bigger, more open draw that produces noticeably more vapour. It's the style most associated with cloud-chasing and sub-ohm tanks.
DTL setups use lower-resistance coils (well under 1.0ohm) at higher wattages, and are generally paired with high-VG e-liquids rather than nic salts. Because nicotine hits harder at higher power, DTL vapers typically use lower nicotine strengths usually 3mg or 6mg via a nic shot in a shortfill to keep the hit comfortable at higher wattage.

DTL is worth considering once you're comfortable vaping and want bigger clouds or a softer, less restricted draw but it generally means a bulkier device, more frequent e-liquid use, and a slightly steeper learning curve around coil resistance and wattage.
